Nearly 200 House Democrats are demanding President Donald Trump fund the Affordable Care Act’s Cost Sharing Reduction payments to health insurance companies. “It is your obligation under the law" to make the payments “and to stop other acts of sabotage that undermine Americans’ access to affordable, quality health insurance," the House Democrats wrote in a letter to Trump. “Insurers have little time left to finalize their rate filings for 2018, and without certainty as to whether or not those cost-sharing subsidies will be paid, they will significantly raise their rates or exit the marketplaces altogether." Letter (PDF) A group of House Democrats called Wednesday for a single-payer, “Medicare for All" healthcare insurance system amid Republicans’ ACA repeal push. The lawmakers argued that the country also needs to go further than Obama’s signature healthcare reform law. “We can fight fiercely to protect the Affordable Care Act and also look a little bit farther in terms of establishing Medicare for All," Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., vice-chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said at the press conference. The Hill article
